This weekend Kim and Jeff tied the knot. When I first met Kim I never would have imagined I could have imagined that I would fall in love with her & her family like I did. Mom and best friends showed up to lend their support and a few funny jokes for both the engagement session and bridal session. I couldn't have been happier to have them there either. This is the warmest family. They have been so easy for work with and I am actually disappointed that the wedding has now come and gone. It was BEAUTIFUL! Kim had every detail covered and with fabulous taste! The party was a blast.....and the groomsmen....well they like usual were a hand full. I hope everyone else had as good of a time as I did. I walked away wondering how in the world I get paid to have SO much fun!?!?!

I am not sure how I forgot to blog about Becca and Ryan. She is only one of my all time favorites. Becca and Ryan will be getting married in 2009. I can not wait to see how this wedding all comes together. Girlfriend has impeccable taste so I expect good things! Last month I drug these two down into Deep Ellum for their shoot. It had been a while for me since I had been down there. We had a great time walking what seemed to be miles. :-) Well I did at least....maybe cause i was in flip flops. I am SO looking forward to seeing you two again very soon!!

Rachel & Jordan Tie the Knot

Rachel & Jodan got hitched in October. Talk about a beautiful and touching wedding! These two have the biggest hearts and have touched so many people. It was obvious when you see just how many people showed up to be apart of their big day. Rachel had some of the most creative ideas including a milk and cookie table to replace the traditional grooms cake. I know! Super cute!! I had such a great time getting to know these two and their families!

Here are just a few from their wedding...Did I forget to mention I love any bride who is willing to get on a trampoline in her wedding dress?? Really! That just happen!

This weekend I headed out to TWU with Kim & Jeff. These two are getting hitched in January. I had a great time shooting with them. We had so many laughs.... mostly at Jeff's expense. What a good sport. :-) I can not wait to be apart of their big day. Kim has the most amazing family. I was fortunate enough to shoot Kim's grandfathers 90th birthday a few months back. With this family I can't imagine not having a great time. We ended our shoot in downtown Denton. We found this GREAT old Chevy pickup. I wanted to steal it but since that is still illegal I decided to just take pictures of it. Here are a few favorites from our shoot.

To all of my clients who may think I have fallen off the face of the earth the past week I want to apologize. I have had "one of those months". Seriously...a whole month of crap? Along with working so much that my eyeballs hurt. Then to follow up a bad few weeks my grandmother had a stroke this morning which just makes me want to throw my hands up in frustration and exhaustion. Please hang in there if you are waiting on orders, album changes, or who knows what else that is on my 3 mile long list. I promise I am working on it. Surely nothing else could go wrong....Right?

An update on my grandmother (Meema)....she is in good condition. She has lost strength and some movement on her left side. She seems confused at times and doesn't make sense...but she is able to talk with us and is loving all of the attention I'm sure.

Thanks for the prayers and emails I have received. Love you guys!

Bryan & Meghan :: Just Married

Bryan and Meghan tied the knot on October 18th at Paradise Cove. I dig this venue. The view of the lake overlooking the ceremony is so peaceful. The staff is great to work with as well. Meghan and Bryan booked me over a year ago and it felt like this day would never get here. The wedding was bitter sweet for me in many ways. They are the last of this big group that will be gettin hitched. Such a sad day (for me).....but not. See? Bitter sweet! Here are a few from their wedding that I had to share! Engaged:: Shannon + Blake

This weekend I had an engagement session with Shannon and Blake. Blake actually asked Shannon to marry him on the lake where we decided to shoot. I love finding new locations to shoot at. Especially when the location has a story behind it like this one. I can't wait until their wedding in 09! They were so much fun to work with and you can tell the camera loved them. This is SO overdue!! Here are a few faves from Allison's wedding at the Westin Stonebriar. What a great party!!! These two loves birds had a beautiful wedding and it was so touching to hear friends and family recount their love story. I was so lucky to be welcomed into this big crazy family. Man I love my job.

Little Ethan

Yesterday morning I headed out for a shoot with little Ethan. He may be a little guy but he has a big personality. Ethan is a HUGE fan of tractors and trains. So much so that we had to abandon our shoot location because there were tractors and Ethan was not remotely interested in a camera with a big yellow tractor only feet away. We ended up finishing up our shoot at the the local John Deere tractor dealership. He could not have been happier. After sitting in every tractor on the lot we headed off for a much needed burger. I had such a great time shooting this little man. Here are just a couple of favorites.

Sunday I drove out to the big city of Wichita Falls to photograph Kenzie for her senior portraits. Kenzie lives in Iowa Park but we headed to downtown Wichita for our session. Talk about a ghost town. I felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. I don't know about her but I had a blast. We even got to pull out the new red couch. After driving around all week in with it in the back of my suv it was time to put it to use! To top the day off.....There was even a bonus for me....Taco Casa! Yeah, don't hate until you have had it. Talk about yummy goodness. My mouth is watering thinking about it. Or maybe it is te steaks I'm smelling for dinner. Either way I'm gettin hungry.

Vickie and Steve will be gettin hitched next weekend. Friday evening these two love birds met me out for a little shoot before the big day. Steve is a Harley man so he brought his bike along for a fews pictures. I had such a great time with them. Senior:: Heather

This weekend I did a senior session with Heather. Unfortunately we were defeated by some heavy winds and called it a day earlier then I would have liked. So part 2 will be coming in a week or so. Heather is a volleyball player at Newman Smith. In my opinion...one of the best!!! She was so fun to hang out with for the afternoon. As you can see she is a little hottie too. And not on the market. Her sister tells me that she won't be allowed to date until she's 25.....I happen to be that sister. lol Yes, this is my youngest sister Heather. I am SO proud of her! She has an amazing heart and is always crackin me up. Here are a few of my favorites!

If you look up "HOT" in the dictionary you may find a picture of one of my sisters. This is Hillary, she is my about to be 20 year old sister. WOW that just made me feel old. She is super sweet (most days) and I love the heck out of her. She has been my model on more occasions then I bet she would like to recall. I had to drag her out for a few pictures with my new camera. LOVE EM!

BIG NEWS.....

This week I made a HUGE change! We are talking almost life changing type of change......yeah that may be a little much. But it is a change non the less. I have been a Nikon girl since I was 18 (don't ask how many years that has been). Well this year I made the leap I am now a Canon girl! Yep, I sold every bit of my Nikon gear. If you didn't already know it, once I decide to do something I decide to dive head first and this can often happen over night. Hopefully that isn't a bad quality. As you can imagine I have shot just about anything that has crossed my line of sight this week. Today on the way home from Wichita Falls I decided after several years of passing this hole in the wall place that sales any type of hub cap you could ever not want to buy. I decided I was going to stop and take pictures. This was purely for my enjoyment but I had to share. I cant wait to post more photos from the latest member of my family (yeah the camera).

Yesterday was one of those unexpectedly fabulous days. Besides the weather being hecka-amazing (I think I just made that up) I did a shoot with Brittany. Brittany is a senior at Newman Smith and plays volleyball with my sister Heather. Besides being a kick butt volleyball player she makes for a supa hot runway model. This girl was rockin the camera. I'm hoping college doesn't drag her too far away. I would miss my new little model. Thanks for such a fun afternoon (or should I say afternoon, evening and night) woman!

I met Jordan and Rachel for the first time as they pulled up to the location I had chosen for their engagement session. As you can imagine I was really excited to see that they were smokin hot. The camera really loved these two. Rachel purchased a wedding package I had auctioned at our churches building fundraiser. I could not be more excited to be working with these two. Last weekend Amy and John tied the knot.....bout time! I met these two a few years ago through a friend. Amy has been instrumental to my success this past year. She apparently has the biggest and best group of friends who all decided to get married this year. I do not look forward to all of the weddings coming to an end with this group. They have all throwin some of THE BEST weddings I have attended over the last two years. I feel like one of the "gang" when I am with these guys. They have all been so welcoming. I think I may shed a tear or two at Meghan and Bryan's wedding next month knowing it is the last one I have coming up from this group. I have had a blast meeting all of you and I look forward to a future of baby sessions with you guys. You have a photographer for life, if you will have her.

Here comes the fun part. After seeing some of the pictures from this reception you will know exactly why I have such a good time!

Goodbye vacation!

I just returned from some much needed relaxing on the white sand beaches of Florida. I spent a week with my best friend Laurie, her husband, their two too-cute-for-words-must-show-pictures little girls, and Daron. Our condo was off the hook!! It opened up to the beach and I spent as much time on it as I possibly could. Unfortunately 7 days comes and goes too quick. I am back in big D and was welcomed by the blistering heat. Boy did I miss that....NOT! I uploaded my favorite video from the week. While at Busch Gardens I met a lion up close and personal. I WAS protected by 2 inches of glass but I was still just a bit intimidated. Our last day in Florida, after I risked my life parasailing, we took some family pictures out on the beach. Here are just a few of my favorites. There are even a few of me!

Michelle + Jason

Last weekend Michelle and Jason tied the knot. I have known Michelle for....well ever. She has grown into an amazing woman and fabulous baker from what I have heard. She met a great guy named Jason following a car accident. It's a great story if you haven't heard it.....I guess her cookies must be REALLY good. He is a a firefighter and all around sweet and considerate guy. They were married last weekend at the Hanging Gardens in Duncanville. The venue was perfect for Michelle's laid back khaki and white wedding and reception. Here are just a few of my favorites. I may have to blog a few of Michelle's bridal pictures too. She was such a beautiful bride. Congrats you two!!

Catherine + Monty

At first glance you may think Monty is a little intimidating...or was that just me? Turns out these two are a blast to be around. And I should know, our shoot lasted almost 3 hours. Monty was a great sport and has a good eye for photography as well. Catherine......well who doesn't like working with a natural born model. The camera loved her as you can see. Catherine and Monty will be getting married in October and I can't tell you how excited I am to shoot their wedding. I expect the best of parties out of these two.

Actually I'm still doing it full time so I'd with out it I will be moving into a cardboard box on I-35. Katie and Matt own and operate the Swingin D Ranch in Parker, TX. This has become my favorite venue around town. It is so down home and beautiful. And do these two know how to throw a party. Katie had the most beautiful flowers, an awesome DJ, amazing food catered by Luna de Noche, and the best friends you could bring to a party. I may have to start hiring this group to wedding crash for me. It would mean there could never be another dull moment at a wedding. I couldn't seem to wipe the smile off of my face all day. Katie and Matt seem to be perfect for each other and it isn't everyday that you see two people who look so happy. I hope to work with them many more times in the future! It was hard to find just a few favorites from this wedding.

Johnny and Stephanie are proud parents! And proud they should be. This little man is the cutest thing. We did a session in Levi's fancy new room. He has he very own warm and cozy log cabin. Rumor has it grandpa and dad spent about 30 hours hand painting the logs. That is some love. Their hard work was well worth it. His room looks fabulous!

Vacation....and not just the one from blogging

November 23 huh? Wow, I can't believe how quickly the time flies. It's sad that I haven't found the time to post anything.... Or maybe it's just time to admit that I'm no good at this blogging thing. Big suprise huh! I always think that I am the only one who reads it but then a new client will mention something that they saw and enjoyed. Which only reaffirms to me that I need to keep so much more up to date then I do. So here is my first and hopefully not last post of 2008.

I will spare you with the details of life over the last two months. I doubt you have two hours you would like to devote to reading about it. Instead I will fast forward to vacation! Although this working from home doing something that you LOVE feels a lot like vacation to me. I went on real vacation January 13. It was much like the vacation of 2007. Me, four cousins, and one sister loaded up in a Yukon and set out for Winter Park, CO. The weather was cold cold cold. No joke the windchill on the mountain was -45 one day. I'm from Texas and that didn't go over so well. We were able to ski four days this year and snowmobile for two. Snowmobiling was a first for me and I'd have to say that it was the highlight of my trip. I doubt my Aunt Patricia will soon forget it either. We flew her to CO to be our live in chef for the week. Well the one day we let her out of the condo she falls off of the snowmobile and breaks her arm. Poor thing! She had surgery this past week to fix the damage. Yeah, it was THAT bad. I put together an album from our trip and I have to share it. Please don't judge the photography skills on this one. Much of it was taken with the four Sony Cyber Shots we had floating around.

Christmas Session

This week I took an exciting drive out to the big city of Iowa Park, TX outside of Wichita Falls it's one traffic light town...yeah, THAT big. It's actually a great little place where everyone knows everyone. I did a shoot with three beautiful girls as a surprise session for their mom for Christmas. Lucky for us a cold front blew in while I blew into town. I made a stop by the local Walmart (every town has one) and picked up some scarfs and hats to keep us warm. What a great purchase! It felt about 30 outside but it didn't keep us from having a great time (for almost 3 hours). Meet Kenzie, Peyton and Rhegan. The hottest chicks in Iowa Park!

Hot new parents!

Hollie and Chad are having a baby!! Hollie is one smokin hot momma and still sporting her high heels and Seven maternity jeans which is a must have for any expecting mom (CHAD). How does she do it? We had a great shoot at the Swingin D Ranch Apple Jacks in tote and everything. Rumor has it Hollie is craving cucumbers and popcorn but she wasn't brave enough to bring them along on our session. It worked out alright though, I don't think the goats would have enjoyed the cucumbers as much as they did the Apple Jacks anyways.

I had a blast working with Hollie and Chad. They had me laughing the whole shoot. I can not wait to meet this beautiful little girl in February!

Katie + Matt

On Friday afternoon I headed east to the Swingin D Ranch in Parker, TX. Katie and Matt are now engaged and getting married next June. Together they run the Swingin D which turns out is the coolest little place for a photo shoot. They are sitting on over 100 acres. It is perfect for any wedding, party, or corporate event. I can't wait to shoot out there again. It is a country setting but super close to the city. Katie and Matt were so much fun to work with, thanks for opening up the ranch for our shoot and a tour. Meghan + Brian

I have done several shoots over the last week that I want to share but today I had to share an engagement session that I did with Bryan and Meghan this weekend. We made our way over to Mckinney on Sunday morning. It's obviously a favorite for me this month. Although I am trying to use different parts of town for my sessions. Mckinney has so many different looks it would be hard to get bored with shooting there. Meghan and Bryan were so easy to work with. Especially Meghan, she is pretty easy on the eyes too...sorry Bryan. And I was super excited to hear that Bryan stumbles upon my blog from time to time. He reminded me not to lay my lens in the street....I would hate to learn that lesson again. Here are a few of my favorites. It was a hard choice believe me!

Happy Birthday BFF!

Some of you may know my bestest friend Laurie. This year Laurie had her first 29th birthday. I say that because I think we will be celebrating her 29th birthday for the next 20+ years (if she can get away with it for that long). I wanted this to be a special birthday for her so I came up with a brilliant idea. Laurie loves cooking with her girls. She also loves recipe books....how often she uses one you would have to ask her. With her help I gathered up recipes from her family as well as her in-laws. Although, she did not know why we were doing this. I am not very good at keeping secret so this was really a challenge for me. While she was out of town celebrating her anniversary I kidnapped her kids (not literally) and took them to a grocery store here in Dallas for a fun shoot. The following day we did a shoot at the house while we made cookies. I posted some of their pictures in a slide show that I have wanted to show everyone for months now. FINALLY the big day has come and gone so it's safe to share. I would love to get a chance to do another session like this. I had such a great time during the whole process!

Truck vs. Lens

I remember it like it was last week......maybe because it was. I am on a bridal shoot in Deep Ellum. We are having a blast about an hour into our shoot and about to wrap up with another location. MOB spots it, the perfect place for a picture. She thinks "the photographer needs to see this. It would be perfect. My daughter will love it." She is pre-visualizing the 24x30 canvas that she is going to hang on her wall already. Ok, so maybe I made that part up. Either way I walk around the corner from the alley we have been shooting in. She's right, this is it. We will get some great shots here. When out of the corner of my eye I notice the truck. The truck that is turning into OUR alley. The truck that doesn't even realize that the idiot photographer has placed her camera much to close to street. Thankfully he dodges it.......but what is that sound??? OH that would be my OTHER camera which is actually laying IN the alley. That's right, my Nikon D200 is laying in the alley with an 80-200 lens attached. I probably won't forget the sound of the crunch for at least another week :-). Much to my surprise the camera has escaped damage. Unfortunately we can not say that same for my lens. It has taken one for the team and is laying in about 10 pieces of which I picked up about 2. My first reaction is to cry but I held it together. After all it is only a lens, my camera is still functioning and I have a beautiful bride who is still going to need some pictures for her wedding and that 30x40 canvas going on her moms wall. We finished up our shoot and got some GREAT shots of Kristin. Then again it would be hard not to. She is one of those....the beautiful people. They were so encouraging and sweet about the whole thing. Never once did they call me a moron or idiot for laying my camera in the road. I can assure you I have many times since.

Ever wanted to see what happens to a 80-200 lens when run over by a truck? Save yourself about $1000 bucks and I will show you mine.

Am I at a wedding?

Last Friday night Amber and Jacy walked down the aisle. They were married in the Japanese Gardens in Ft Worth. A BEAUTIFUL place for a wedding. I have to say this is the first time I have witnessed karaoke at a wedding reception. I hope it won't be the last because I had the best time. By the looks of these pictures I wasn't the only one either. Jacy and Amber are one of those couples who were up for anything. They even brought along a very special member of their family named Monkey. I think even Monkey enjoyed himself at this wild party.

Our next heart breaker

On Sunday I met a precious baby boy named Braden. The poor thing is destined to become a head turner with these good looking parents. We had a great time shooting in mom and dads beautiful new home. Although Branden didn't seem too interested in having his picture taken. He preferred to eat and sleep. I can't say I blame him though. We did manage to capture some images that I really love. It was so nice meeting such a beautiful family...on the inside and out.

Smokin Hot Volleyball

On Friday I did a shoot with the Newman Smith Varsity Volleyball team. My super hot, sweet, and mega talented youngest sister Heather plays on the team. We headed out to the Carrollton Fire Department to find some cute firemen...I mean to shoot some pictures. :) It looked to me like the girls were having a great time playing dress up. Go figure right. I can't help but post my favorite picture of Heather too. She will probably die when she sees which one I chose to share with everyone. It is SO her! I also did a shoot with the Freshman and JV team so you have to check those out too. I guess my skills reach beyond weddings and portrait sessions now....

Ok so I started this new part time job this week and I have been working my tail off. I am shooting school candids for day cares and it is SOOOO much fun but it is the most draining thing I have ever done. I feel like I eat, sleep, shoot and repeat. Although I could use more of the second and less of the first. lol I will make sure to blog this week about my exciting week but in the meantime I have a video that is a MUST SEE! I know the craziest 4 yr old! This is Paige and she is quite the singer as you can see.

So later on this same day the natives were getting restless while Aaron was helping me with some web stuff so we busted out a little Numa Numa....I can't believe I am really going to share this with the world. I figure you have to be able to laugh at yourself. I have that covered....

The Juxtapose Experience

Last week my photography bff Kate asked me to second shoot a wedding for her up in Mckinney. OF COURSE I couldn't turn the offer down. We spent the day hanging out and goofing around with our photography gear...great fun that was! About 5:00 we headed off to Aubie and Kevin's wedding at the Surrey House. Of course this was my first time meeting the bride and her family but they sure didn't make me feel like the outsider. Aubie and her 2 sisters looked absolutely beautiful Saturday. Aubie and Alli both sporting their cowboy boots. I am going to try not to rush out and buy me a pair....but I can make no promises. I had a great time meeting everyone and had a blast seeing Kate in action. She becomes really intense behind the camera. You should check out her blog too www.juxtaposephotography.com . Amber & Jacy E_Session

I did a super fun shoot with Amber and Jacy several days back. We met up in downtown Denton, TX. Going into it I wasn't really sure what to expect with the location.Which turned out to be a really sweet place to shoot. I knew these two would be fun to work with no matter where they were. Talk about some strong personalities. Amber and Jacy seem so easy going and always have a smile on their faces...except when I was beggin for something sexy. I am really looking forward to their wedding in October. Not just because it won't be 500 degrees outside. Mostly because it is guaranteed to be a good time with them.

On another note....did anyone notice in my TAG that I mentioned I was full time??? MEANING I no longer have a 8-5 corporate job? SERIOUSLY! I don't! I am flying solo. I am super excited and feel like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. I'm not looking for any comments about the matter or anything (yeah right). I'm also a tiny bit nervous but mostly enjoying the ride...and sleeping in until 7:30. :-)

TAG?

Last week I was pulled into a friendly game of photographers TAG. I feel special that Dustin and Heather decided to drag me into it. I think I can remember playing something much to similar in jr high. SInce I am such a people pleaser I must play along. Hopefully you will learn something about me that you ALWAYS wanted to know. Or maybe I would just like to think it will.

1. I was little Miss Dallas in 1981.... HA! Now I bet you didn't see that coming.

2. I raised a pig in 4-H when i was in 6th grade..... No joke people. I have pictures to prove it. And I will spare you.

3. I met my "real" dad for the first time when I was 22 years old......About 22 years late but all things happen for a reason. He is an amazing man. I am very blessed to have two awesome dads.

4. I am officially a full time photographer!....."You just got pushed off the cliff, start building your wings." Is going to be a quote I hang on to for a little while.

5. I was homeschooled through Jr High and High School.....I have no comment except...I would never homeschool my kids. :-)

6. I was proposed to for the first time when I was in 8th grade.....this sounds really messed up but to me it's a funny story. You will be happy to know that mom also went after this boy with a bat. Luckily she didn't find him.

7. I LOVE to shop...... Many woman can tell you this but few can live up to what this means. Ask me how many pairs of SUMMER shoes I have...72....ask me how many pairs of blue jeans are in my closet....32....Do you doubt me now?

8. I want to go on a missions trip to Africa in the worst way!....Maybe I could take them some of the summer shoes I'm not wearing.

Dancin Queen

I would have blogged sooner but my internet has been touch and go at home...mostly go. I will start off with a little personal update. As some of you may know my mom has been in the hospital for several weeks. She went in three weeks ago and after 8 days was finally sent home feeling better but having never found the cause of the problem. After coming home she became sick again and was put back into the hospital about 3 days later. She was released again yesterday and seems to be feeling better. She has been pinched, poked, proded, and has had just about every type of scan you can name. Today she is walking around with a camera in her belly. Pretty interesting to hear what doctors can do these days....yet they still don't know what is wrong. At this point they are leaning towards Chrohns disease. It is hard to see someone you love go through some of the things mom has gone through the last few weeks. Especially when it is your mom. I am used to having her care for me. For once I felt so completely helpless. I just wanted to thank everyone for their prayers and thank my clients for their patience. You will never know how much it has meant!

So Friday night..... Kevin and Becca finally tied the knot! Their wedding was held at the Country Abbey in Justin, TX. I can totally understand why people would make the trip out there. What a beautiful place to get married. The staff was the friendliest I had met too! I saw alot of old friends at the wedding and had a great time catching up. I am so honored that Kevin and Becca let me be apart of this special day. Now...onto the pictures....

I hate to admit it but the last picture is actually my cousin. Who would have thought that someone related to me would be makin a fool of themself on the dance floor? I mean that in the nicest way possible. hehe I introduce you to Jayson...the dancin queen.

Lovin my new logo!

I am SO excited about my new blog and especially about my new logo. I never realized just how much your logo is a reflection of you and your personality. At least I feel like mine is. With the help of my photography bff Kate (Juxtapose Photography) we brought my vision to life. There are a lot of changes in the works for PBJ Studio but it has become a slow process. Especially when I am still holding down a full time job. Hopefully there are some changes on the horizon in that area as well. More to come SOON.....

Since it has been a month and about 10 photo shoots since my last post I thought I would be gentle with you and only post a few from a recent engagement session I did with Kevin and Becca. We had a great time shooting in downtown Lewisville. It looked like rain but fortunately the rain held up until after we finished. These two are getting married this weekend and I am so excited to be shooting their wedding. Kevin and I first met at church in Denton back....ages ago. Or so it feels now. This week was totally amazingly awesome and I hate that it’s over! I just got back from Seattle and Anti-workshop rocked my world. I can’t wait to roll out all of the changes I’m making. I have even gone as far as to put alllll of my camera gear up for sale…Hopefully I haven’t lost my mind. I met some photographers that I have admired from a distance for a while now and others that are now added to that list. Where to start…. Dustin (love him!), Erin (Seattle’s BEST dog photographer), Jan (they don’t get any nicer), Jasmine Star (just as beautiful on the inside as the outside), Shyla (who never stops smiling), Heather (who is crazy fun!), Kelly (who is a freakin amazing photographer), Fred Egan (what can I say…he has been inspiring me for almost a year now), and bestest for last my new BFF Kate Mefford (she took the new shots of me). She and I are going to make a great team! She challenges me to look a little dig a little deeper into what I am really all about. I think my Anti-workshop was so successful in part because of our talks and brainstorming. Check out my new buddies at Anti Workshop.

The Boutwells and John Michael Cooper really challenged us this week to step outside the box. They were completly inspiring! I can not implement everything I learned fast enough but I sure will try. Our week was filled with some crazy excercises and shoots. Tuesday we were sent out with a blow up pig and a polaroid camera. We had two hours to tell a story about our pig and 10 polaroids to accomplish it. Talk about a challenge! I was paired up with a couple of awesome girls. Our pig was planning her upcoming wedding. As you can imagine we had some good laughs. Wednesday we headed out with a model/bride and a list of 24 shots we had to get. Two hours didn’t seem like nearly enough time for this one. Our bride was super sweet and beautiful as you can see from the slideshow. Thursday the Boutwells got to strut their stuff for us. We went down to underground Seattle with our bride and groom for a smokin hot shoot. Talk about outside the box. I LOVED it!!! It was so different and a refreshing change. I was pretty sad to say goodbye to all of my new friends. We had some great times, lots of laughs, (best taxi ride EVA!) and I have tons of memories and new blogs to stalk

Where have I been?

I know. I know. I am running a little bit behind this week. I am in Seattle at a photography workshop that is totally rockin my socks off. I have met some amazing photographers and have learned so much that is going to make me even more dangerous with that little black piece of equipment I always have in my hands (no, not my lipstick. My camera!) Get ready for some BIG changes coming your way. I can't hardly stand the suspense!!

So, onto the events of last weekend....Friday night I shot Chelsea and Grant's wedding at the cutest little chapel. I am going to have to hand out the best dance award on this one. These two danced until my feet hurt and they were awesome at it! It made me want to get out there and shake my booty too. You can thank me later for sparing you that sight. Although I did not get a chance to know Chelsea and Grant prior to the wedding I learned Friday they are both tons-o-fun. Here are just a couple of pictures from thier wedding.

Saturday I fortunate enough to shoot a wedding with a superstar in the biz (that's a little inside joke really). On a serious note though, I have been so lucky this past month to shoot with some of the best photographers and Saturday was another one of those expierences. Fred Egan asked me help him out on a wedding in Ft Worth. I thought I had seen it all but it turns out I had never seen a reception just THIS spectacular. It isn't every day you see 7 wedding cakes at one wedding. OR an ice dolphin sculpture that serves drinks out of it's mouth. Talk about going all out. I had the best time enjoying the sites and watching Fred in action. I learned so much, what a priceless expierence! Thanks Fred for a very memorable evening.

Did someone say fire on the dance floor?

I shot another wedding this weekend with Heather over at Faces Photography. It was Sunday afternoon at Paradise Cove in Southlake. What a beautiful venue. Possibly more beautiful if it wasn't 110 degrees outside. Ok, so maybe it wasn't 110 but with the warmer weather finally here my body just hasn't adjusted yet and I was being a baby (on the inside). Despite the heat I got some great shots, ate good food (amazing cake), and had a LOT of laughs. As a photographer once in a while the stars align and the heavens part to shine down on you. The result is a picture you couldn't have possibly planned for even if you had tried. I will let this poor guy remain nameless (he knows who he is), but I have to say this is the first time in my life I have seen a flame come out of...well just see for yourself.

Seriously, how many embarassing pictures can you get of one person? I guess this was my lucky night.

Saturday morning I went to a Berry Farm just north of Sherman with my favorite people in the world (Laurie, Paige and Addi of course). Here are a couple of pictures from our exciting and exhausting day.

As you can see we put the kids to work immediatly. We had 4 buckets to fill!

I wonder why we couldn't seem to fill up a whole bucket??

Nap Needed!!

This weekend was crazy busy! It started off with a wedding Saturday evening. When Dallas gets a lot of rain we also breed a lot of mesquitos...go figure! I was eaten alive but had a great time with Lindsey & Jeremy. Their wedding was at the Botanical Gardens in Grapevine, TX. Who even knew Grapevine had their own Botanical Garden...certainly not I. It was very beautiful. Lindsey went with my favorite color choice this season chocolate brown and blue. Everyone was such a great sport outside in the heat. It feels like summer already and I am not prepared for it at all. After the wedding we were off to the reception at Aunt Donna's house. It was the perfect setting for an intimate reception.

Sunday afternoon I did a shoot with the Newman Smith Cheerleading squad. After waking up to terrible thunderstorms I thought for sure this shoot wasn't going to happen. But the skies quickly cleared up and one of the team moms bought a big piece of plastic for the girls to sit on (good thinking Cindy!). The pictures went off without out a hitch...or one complaint about the mud. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised! Here is a picture of the 2007- 2008 NSHS Varsity Cheerleaders.

You would think it ends there but it doesn't......from our cheer shoot I had to rush over to Glen Eagles Country Club for a wedding with Faces Photography. I have known Heather for several years now and this was my first opportunity to second shoot for her. It was such a blast! You wouldn't believe how free I felt...no real pressure not to miss anything. I just got to enjoy the day and watch see the moments that I would sometimes miss when directing the "show". Heather and Ted were so much fun to work with. We even had radio's so we could talk to each other during the day. It was total CIA stuff and I loved it!! It is such an honored to be asked to shoot with someone you admire. Those two really know what they are doing....maybe that's why Heather was featured in D Magazine. Thanks again for letting me be apart of the team for a day. Can't wait to do it again (next Sunday). Here are a few of my favorites from the wedding.

Christina + Shaylon

This weekend I had a great time with Christina and Shaylon. They were married at the Chapelle des Fleurs in Flower Mound. This venue was very elegant and perfect for these two. Christina's story has really touched my heart. Christina's mom passed away almost two years ago. I can not imagine how bitter sweet this day must have been for her. She had a beautiful table set up for her mom during the ceremony which included her favorite flowers, poem and a candle in her memory. Here is the part that really gets me...during "first dance" at the reception the DJ announced a special request. Christina's brother George takes the dance floor and "Tears in Heaven" begins to play. Up until now I have been able to hold it together. George lights a candle and they share the most touching dance I have ever been a part of. I won't lie, I cried my eyes out. Christina seems to be such an amazing woman and demonstrated such unbelievable strength. I was turly inspired by her. I obviously did not know Christina's mom but if her daughter in anything like her I know she was beautiful on the inside and out.

Thank you for allowing me to be apart of this special day. I had a fabulous time (even though you made me cry :-) ) !!!!

Caleb's First photo shoot

A few posts back I showed you some pictures of Caleb the day after he was born. Well our little model posed for us again earlier this week. I tried to narrow it down to just one picture but I just couldn't. He is took cute! Jennifer and John seem to be doing awesome. John was even telling me Caleb sleeps through the night pretty well. Sounds like these two did something right. Caleb is still super alert and was awake and happy for most of our shoot. Don't ask me how many times we got pee'd on though. Good times.

911 + photo shoot = Crazy Day!

Sunday I had the priviledge of shooting the Benzick's first family portrait with allllll of the family. Laurie and Aaron are some of my closest friends so I am allowed to say this....... This is a crazy bunch of people. For instance, Aaron's brother in law shows up in a "Respect your peeps shirt" in his defesnse it was black and that's all I asked for. Luckily it was an April Fools joke. Knowing how crazy they are it should have been no surprise to me that at some point we would be calling 911 on our shoot. Long story short.... We were wrapping up our shoot in a big field of bluebonnets when we heard a loud squealing of tires followed by a big bang. Aaron is one of Plano's finest so he took off towards the scene. Seeing the accident reminded me how important it is to STOP at red lights. A Camry did not stop at the blinking red light and was broadsided by two SUV's. The passenger in the Camry was severely injured and Careflight came out to the scene to pick her up. It wasn't until Careflight was landing that I even thought to run and get my camera. Apparently adrenalin makes your brain stop working. I was able to catch a couple of shots before they took off.

You would think that this would be enough excitement for one day but of course it wasn't. I had a senior session in the afternoon with Jessica. Talk about a beautiful girl! I felt like I was working with a model. She was a total natural in front of the camera. Our second location was this great place I found off the highway. Although the sign DID say "no tresspassing" and we had to climb a fence to get in it was one of my favorite locations. As we are wrapping up and climbing back over the fence a police officer pulls up. Capturing our expressions would have been priceless. The officer says there have been some reports of someone tresspassing and mischievous activity. EEK! He asks who is in charge (not very friendly let me add) and tells me to get my license. As I am walking to my car I decide it is time to "name drop" and tell him that I spoke to Aaron Benzick and he knew I was here. Rather quickly he responds that he doesn't know Aaron. UH HUH! About this time I realize someone is playing a joke on me. "Aaron sent you didn't he!!!!!" The officer laughs and tells us to have a nice day. Poor Jessica thought we were all going to jail. We had a GREAT laugh! So here are a few from Jessica's shoot. Check back in a few days and I will get a few more posted.
